Happy 2018!

Happy 2018 to you all!

This is my first letter of this new year and I must express my awe & my gratitude for all of the wonderful things that happened in 2017.

Thank you all for being part of this journey of mine—of making sense of life through art & painting!

2017 was full of plenty of paintings & adventures.

It started with painting lovely commission paintings of the Oregon wine country

It was also a year of painting en plein air.

It was a year of painting in a hurricane.

It was a year of painting the icy cold beauty of Alaska.

It was a year of painting in Central Park.

And of course, it was the year of Europe! My grand adventure of 2017 was travelling to Italy & France.

I got to see – with my very own eyes! – all of the great paintings I have loved for so long, and got to travel to some of the most beautiful places on earth. We stayed in Paris and travelled throughout Italian wine country! Everything we saw deserved to be a painting.

I ended my Europe trip with the Grand Reveal show at Anam Cara. I am still absolutely astounded by all of those who came to this show – never could I have imagined that over 150 people would have come to see all of the paintings that were inspired by Italy & France! At the end of my show, 33 of the 38 paintings were sold and I got to see so many faces of people who loved & supported me over the years. What a night!

Thank you to all who supported my show & my artwork – I get to do what I love every day and get to travel to beautiful places because of you!

One year ago, I could have never imagined the great things that were to happen in 2017. May this challenge me to dream even bigger this year!

So this year, 2018, here are some of my dreams and goals:

-Show my artwork in a new gallery

-Create more paintings en plein air

-Create at least 12 new paintings as a part of my Golden Hour Series

-Learn 3 new techniques in oil painting

-Dare to paint on some LARGE canvases

-Travel to a country I have never been to before

-Travel to Nicaragua again

-Paint the Painted Hills in Eastern Oregon

-Drink more water

-Sell a painting to someone outside of the PNW

-Reach 10k followers on Instagram

-Play more guitar

-Go on more hikes (any suggestions?)

-Revamp my website

-Watch my little sis graduate

-Meet new artist friends

I hope that you are looking ahead at this new year with dreams & possibilities as well. May we be surprised & grateful a year from now when we look back in hindsight at where we are now!

This is a little sneak peek at what I have already been up to in this new year, I think I am going to call this my “Golden Hour Series.”

Before I sign off this letter… look forward to a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT that I will be making in the next couple weeks.

Now, all I have left to say is… I am feeling pretty AWESOME about 2018!

Love,

Christine Joy

Art for the Holidays

Hello Everyone,

I am excited to say that the yearly calendar is now for sale.... in fact I have 2 different calendars this year! The price is still $18 each but as a special deal I will sell 2 for $30.

Calendars make great gifts and are affordable options to have art on your wall! I only have a limited edition of these calendars so if you are interested please let me know and I will put it on hold for you.

The calendar on the right is my annual calendar of all of my best paintings I have completed in the last year, and the painting on the left is a new version of my plein air paintings where I fit the painting into the actual scene behind it. I have gotten so much interest in these that I thought it would make a great calendar

Speaking of things to put on the calendar, the Grand Reveal Show is now less than a month away! I have such a hard time keeping secrets.... it's been a challenge for me to not show any of my Europe paintings until December 3rd, so I am looking forward to finally sharing them with everyone! In my opinion, this show will be my best one yet!

I would love for you to come join me on Sunday afternoon, December 3rd from 2pm to 5pm. I will be giving an artist talk at 4pm! The event will be held at Anam Cara Cellars in Newberg, OR.

If you have any questions about the event or would like to reserve a calendar, feel free to send an email my way.

Cheers,

~Christine Joy

The Grand Reveal

Hello everyone,

I am glad to say that I am back home and finally over jet lag!

For starters, I want to thank each of you who have been following along on our journey through France and Italy this past month. It was quite the adventure—one I will never forget!

We saw Paris, Giverny (where Monet's home & garden is located), Florence, Assisi, Orvieto, and Rome.

We also went to beautiful hilltop towns like Pienza and Montepulciano, which made me feel like I was in a real life fairytale! I have so much inspiration to continue painting all of the lovely memories.

I am very excited to invite you to my Grand Reveal event where I will be showing all of my paintings from Europe for the first time! The showing will be on Sunday, December 3rd from 2pm to 5pm at Anam Cara Cellars in Newberg, OR.

I am keeping all of my paintings top secret until then. I will have 9 oil paintings and 18 watercolor paintings (all of which I painted on site in Europe). Since I have been home I have been working on some larger Europe paintings that will also be in the show. I would love for you to join me at the show! I will be giving an artist talk at 4:00pm sharing some stories and thoughts behind the paintings.

It is crazy for me to think about all of the places I have been and things I have seen in the last month... feels like it was a dream in a lot of ways! Yet I have all of these paintings to remind me of how wonderful it all was.

Lastly, I want to give a big thank you to Valerie Rogers who planned the whole trip.  So thankful to experience so many wonderful places because of you!

Hope to see you all soon!

Take care,
